The prevailing pandemic has brought a laser-sharp focus on Employee Wellbeing. Why is it critical? Do organizations have a strategy in place? How to enhance? How to manage? Are the key questions.
 
Employee Wellness, physical and mental health are critical for a happy and healthy employee as that translates into a productive and engaged person towards the organization's mission and vision.
 
The biggest question is how and where to start the wellness programs as the remote working with Covid appropriate behavior makes it challenging. However, making wellness a part of life is also important. It shall be easy, proven, sustainable, and cost-effective.
 
Yoga is the solution for all the apprehensions. It is an ancient, proven, and the best resolution towards enhancing the wellness of employees. Yoga helps to improve physical, emotional, and mental health, which are the need of the hour. Working remotely can result in anxiety, fear, stress, negative emotions due to social media bombardment, no one to share the feelings, no window to vent out and calm our mind, coupled with the restricted moments may attract lifestyle ailments that could be risky, etc. So let’s turn this situation into a boon and manage employee emotional, mental, and physical well-being through online Yoga. Yes, it is possible with and with Yoga only.
 
Yoga helps in managing stress, improves blood circulation, immunity, and concentration, builds positivity for a strong camaraderie without hindering the working hours. It makes employees disease-free, overcomes a sedentary lifestyle, corrects their body posture, boosts productivity, etc. It makes employees happier, mindful and nourishes the mind and body.
 
 
Here are the steps to make Yoga part of life at @the Workplace…
 
 
First, partner with a yoga institute with a repute that has certified and well-trained yoga teachers. Fix a yoga session schedule and offer flexibility to employees to join at their convenience. Preferably, make the schedule outside office hours, either early morning or in the evening. You can also consider yoga classes in the afternoon, just before lunch break. . Announce a Yoga session break for 30 to 60 minutes. No meetings would be allowed, and whoever is interested can join a virtual yoga class. It makes it easier for others to schedule the appointments. Break during the work, and that too doing an activity like yoga helps them work with renewed vigor, focus, and concentration with higher productivity.
 
Second, let corporate yoga trainers train the team leaders, managers, and top management regarding various meditation techniques, pranayama, etc. They can incorporate these during the meeting routine, before starting the meeting, or towards the end. This would help to energize them for a better transition to the current meeting from the previous session. Also, it makes them mindful and active participants rather than passive recipients.
 
 
Third, give a choice to employees to attend yoga Nidra sessions at the end of the working day. Yoga Nidra is a state of activity where the person consciously relaxes the body and mind with awareness. It is like a state in which one rests, completely throwing off the mental burdens. There are numerous benefits of yoga Nidra that include stress management, corrects sleep patterns, promote better sleep, improves concentration, willpower, and aids in goal setting. In addition, it makes one alter their hidden patterns of thinking and improve oneself.
 
 
Fourth, arrange specific yoga workshops for each team to improve team members' relationships and morale. You can do it on a fortnightly basis or a monthly basis. The workshop should be contextually specific to the needs of the team. For example, make relationship management workshops for the sales team, goal setting workshops for managers, etc.
 
 
Fifth, offer the yoga session to employee family members during weekends. An employee who is happier at personal life will be more productive in their professional life.
 
These are few steps to try through the Yoga wellness program. There is a lot more than one can do to choose the specific context of the organization. Think of how productive, happier, and engaged the workforce would be through Yoga and how it would translate into exceeding the organizational objectives in these uncertain times.
